Resonance Technology
MRI Transducer

CHALLENGE: Resonance Technology manufactures virtual reality and audio displays for MRI applications. They had an illustration of a new transducer product that would be located in a very sensitive MRI environment, requiring an extremely well shielded product to avoid disrupting the MRI process.

SOLUTION: Resonance Technology turned to Accurate Design's (AD) mechanical design expertise. Using Solidworks, AD modeled an enclosure with a tight EMI/RFI seal around the electronics, converting fiber optic signals to audio and video signals accessible through virtual reality goggles. The basic enclosure was machined from aluminum and featured a tongue-and-groove interface with RF gaskets between the enclosure sections. Finally, a combination of frosted Plexiglas and light filters were used to diffuse the LED light sources for the displays providing an even, well lit display free of hot spots from the LEDs.

RESULT: Accurate Design delivered a tight design package with built-in heat sinking in the amplifier and power supply sections. To provide shielding around the most sensitive sections of the circuit, the design put the circuit board shielding into the PCB.

Accurate Design quickly met the quality standards of Resonance Technology's sensitive MRI environment.
